Family History Archives How To Start Archiving Family Records And Documents?

How to start archiving family records and documents? - family history archives

My mother has box loads of documents from my grandparents and parents. There are many photos, letters and other fragments that are of interest, such as the history of the family. However, if they are given only in the fields continued to deteriorate, and Chuck would be a pity, too.

As these documents are not archived, so that they are used in the future? You need to be sorted - but how? and how do they preserve? is a cross-reference it worth it?

I went through this too, that my mother was not there to help, first try to determine that all people and put their names and places on the back of the photos that practice (well, got into his car by the way) . If not, they may require parents who might know. The same is true for all papers, wills, births, school, and so on, until the telephone and water bill, a time of great help. Then the images in folders, albums can be made, and their conservation. I have also scanned and stored on a CD. I scan the copies of the census and death records of individuals. So you can keep the originals.
Then I become a genealogy program for the team and everything that I can wear. I have two family home is my Family Tree Maker, which is what most people have. So you can change things with other people through GEDCOM files. It takes time, but believe me, it is very useful. Search the obituaries too. Try to get all information on all sides, and the model of the family as possible. I have over 40 years and the first few years, many have been taken by Hand everything that is written a lot easier. That's what I did with mine. 3 Ring books and acid-free page protectors buy. Then I went through laptops and enter the name. It is easier to do the research for me. If I go somewhere, you can take this notebook.

In addition, documents scanned and burned onto a CD so I can share with family members. This makes it easier than ever to explore. I burn a CD and post to them. It saves a lot of money to pay documents.

You need only to find what works for you. I know that you are all our proposals and make a big self. So make sure to use acid-free page protectors for photos and documents.
